What does it feel like to be alone?
Waking up with cat's lick and meow.
Having the perfect cup of tea,
Watching the world coming down or a 20 min sitcom.
Getting excited about a foreign application acceptance,
But no one to share the news with.
Getting another book out, and no one willing to buy it?

What does it feel like to be alone?
Drawing curtains to one side in the morning,
And to the other side in the evening,
And to however it fucking wants to be in the night.
Getting out of the shower naked, with windows open.
Sneaking in a smoke when no one's home.
Laying with legs wide open, lying on social media.

What does it feel like to be alone?
Opening packages ordered online.
Reading a random book.
Cleaning up cat's shit and poop.
Treating her with love, cause no one else deserves.
Listen to family talking, with ears shut.
Falling asleep for an afternoon nap, with sun shining bright and me feeling light.

What does it feel like to be alone?
The silence feels calming.
Even the sound of the fan is disturbing.
Scrolling on the phone is too loud.
Staring at the ceiling is calming.
Saddened when the cat doesn't sit on your lap.
Maybe she is sad cause I picked up another random flavor for her food.

What does it feel like to be alone?
Peaceful.
Even in the noise,
Just being poise.
The sound of life,
Like the swings and people of that old computer game,
The roller coaster tycoon.
You remember? Playing alone?
Building a world, alone.
Maintaining the world, alone.
Watching the world, alone.
Why weren't we taught how to be alone?

What does it feel like to be alone?
With hands and chin on the terrace grill,
Watching the world go by.
Remembering the time when we counted the cars go by.
The ambulance sirens, the police sirens,
The honking bikes, and bickering fights.
In the distance afterall.
Listening to it for hours,
Does that make you feel alone?
No one to share,
The deep, deafening, soundless, high pitched, piercing yet whispering silence with,

That's what it feels like to be alone.
But good alone,
Not bad alone.

It's all a roller coaster tycoon,
Happening in real life.
Build, watch, grow and die.
